Damu The Fudgemunk

Damu The Fudgemunk is Earl Davis, a producer, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Washington, DC, who co-owns the vinyl-focused label Redefinition Records and first surfaced as half of the duo Y Society with rapper Insight. His sound is warm, sample-driven boom bap: crunchy drums, chopped soul and jazz loops, and horn lines layered into small narratives. 'Tea Thyme' comes from How It Should Sound Volume 1 & 2, the collection of his earlier beats that Redefinition released in 2010. Proof of his range: Ocean Bridges, an improvised album recorded in 2019 with jazz saxophone legend Archie Shepp and rapper Raw Poetic, came out in 2020, alongside a string of other collaborations with Raw Poetic. His later releases include Away Back In (2023) with Raw Poetic and Peace of Action (2024).
