Gold Panda is the recording name of English electronic producer Derwin Schlecker, who studied at London's SOAS and lived in Japan before channeling that influence into intricate, sample-built, folktronica-tinged instrumentals. 'In My Car' comes from his 2016 City Slang album 'Good Luck and Do Your Best.' A genuinely charming detail behind his breakout: his acclaimed debut, 'Lucky Shiner' (2010), was recorded in two weeks over Christmas at his aunt and uncle's house in Essex and is named after his grandmother, a homespun origin for a record that went on to earn a Metacritic score of 80 and press best-of-year mentions. His album 'TON UP' followed on Studio Barnhus in 2026.
