Polly Jean Harvey, from Bridport, Dorset, is one of British music’s most restless artists, reinventing her sound album to album; Is This Desire? (1998, Island) marked her shift from raw guitar rock into atmospheric electronics. She’s the only artist ever to win the Mercury Prize twice, in 2001 and 2011 — the same restless craft on display here. Her tenth album, I Inside the Old Year Dying, followed in 2023.
