sweet93

sweet93 is the shoegaze project of New York-based singer-songwriter Chloe Kohanski, who writes and records with Ohio-based producer Evan Boutte across long distance. Before sweet93, Kohanski won Season 13 of NBC's The Voice in 2017, then deliberately stepped back from the mainstream machine to make something more personal, drawing on 1990s touchstones like Slowdive and Radiohead -- the '93' in the name refers to her birth year, 1993, which she calls 'the year for albums.' 'what's true?', released in October 2024 as her first single of that year, is a hazy, reverb-heavy track about questioning reality, and it arrived as she set out on her first US tour, supporting Porches.
